My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix
I really did love this book. I read through the first half really quickly, as the increasingly suspenseful story line hooked me and the 80's references made me chuckle. I really liked Hendrix's writing style and the way he focused on his character building; each character felt like they were my friends and I was experiencing the demise of Gretchen with them. The second half of the book really did disappoint me a little, not to the point where I gave this book three stars, but I felt like the book was going one way and when it didn't I felt a little disappointed. Without giving the ending away, it felt like one of those endings that didn't satisfy a quickly moving and suspenseful plot. Once I closed the book I felt more like "that's it?". However, it was a super fun read and a perfect introduction to the spooky season that is about to finally grace us (can Halloween get here any sooner?). (Four Stars)
